CM ensures support to rain hit regions

Bengaluru/Mangaluru: Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy said that the state government is closely monitoring the heavy downpour at Mangaluru, Udupi and the surrounding areas and will offer complete support and to safeguard life and property of people.

Addressing the media, H D Kumaraswamy said, “DC of Dakshina Kannada district has provided complete information of rains and the destructions due to lightning and thunderstorms in the district. I have instructed the DC to safeguard the victims and also to reduce the damage caused by the heavy rains. Senior officers of the state government are in constant contact with the district administration and the situation is being observed closely,”

CM has also instructed the district administration to provide basic necessities to the victims; instructions are given to offer the compensation soon. The state government is ready to release additional flood relief grant to the district administration of Dakshina Kannada district. Repairing of roads and restoring electrical supply will be given priority. As there is a possibility of sea erosion in areas which are very close to the sea, instructions are passed on to keep high alert,” adds the statement.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is already sent to Mangaluru and Udupi. The public is requested to cooperate with the government in this respect,” said Kumaraswamy.

DC also distributed Rs 5 lac compensation each to the families who lost their members due to heavy rains.
