Cong delegation meets SP, seeks protection for Harish Poojary murder witness

Mangaluru: A delegation of district Congress leaders, led by former minister B Ramanath Rai met Dakshina Kannada district SP Lakshmi Prasad seeking protection for Shamiullah, the prime witness in 2015 Harish Poojary murder case.

In an appeal submitted to the SP, the Congress leaders mentioned that the murder accused and their supporters were mounting pressure on Shamiullah to skip the hearing in the case or face dire consequences. “The threats are likely to hamper the inquiry of the case,” it said.

Shamiullah was with Harish Poojary when he was murdered at Navoor of Bantwal city police station limits in November 2015.
