Speaking at a press conference in Mangalore, Kumar dismissed calls for his resignation made on social media platforms like WhatsApp. “I am not a student of WhatsApp University,” he asserted.
Kumar emphasized that his appointment as district president was based on his extensive experience and previous responsibilities within the district. He recounted how he remained loyal to the party even in difficult times, such as in 1989 when he continued working for the party despite not receiving the B-form at the last moment.
Kumar acknowledged that if the party formally requested his resignation, he would comply and continue to work as a dedicated party worker to strengthen Congress. He also mentioned that Padmaraj has taken moral responsibility for the recent election defeat, but clarified that the loss was not due to any individual but a collective effort. He noted that compared to the previous Lok Sabha election, their candidate received more votes this time, although it still resulted in a loss.
