Mysuru: Scores of Congress party workers gathered at the party’s office in the city on Thursday, to demand the Mysuru city President of the Congress to take strict action against those involved in anti-party activities at the time of campaigning. Vasu, the Congress candidate from Chamaraja constituency who lost to the BJP, accused former Mysuru Urban Development Authority (muda) President Dhruvakumar of engaging in anti-party activities.

Vasu and his supporters claimed that Dhruvakumar had wanted the Chamaraja ticket and when that was denied, he had campaigned for Independent candidate and JD(S) rebel K. Harish Gowda. Later, Vasu intervened and requested his followers to withdraw the protest. “I was defeated in the election because of various reasons including ‘hacking’ and anti-party activities,” he said. He also added that he was happy with all the activities that he had taken up during his tenure.

However, party leaders promised the protestors that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee will initiate strict action against the people said to have been involved in anti-party activities.
