Vasu and his supporters claimed that Dhruvakumar had wanted the Chamaraja ticket and when that was denied, he had campaigned for Independent candidate and JD(S) rebel K. Harish Gowda. Later, Vasu intervened and requested his followers to withdraw the protest. “I was defeated in the election because of various reasons including ‘hacking’ and anti-party activities,” he said. He also added that he was happy with all the activities that he had taken up during his tenure.
However, party leaders promised the protestors that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee will initiate strict action against the people said to have been involved in anti-party activities.
