Congress Party Workers Force, Warn People to Attend Party Convention in Koppal

Koppal: A congress party convention being organised at Koppal in Karnataka has attracted controversy on Friday as party workers forced the people in Koppal to attend the convention in an attempt to create a crowd of 1 lakh people at the convention venue here.

The congress workers reportedly warned the people that they won’t get government benefits including food grains from their respective ration shops if they fail to attend the party program organised. The congress party leaders have sent number of KSRTC buses to various parts of Koppal district to bring the people to the town to create a huge crowd at the venue of the convention, sources said.

Meanwhile, the passengers who depend upon bus services were seen struggling to move from location to another following non-availability of bus service in the several areas of the district. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, state ministers, party leaders are scheduled to participate in the stone laying ceremony of various development projects and a party convention here today, September 22.
