Bengaluru: The 43-member board headed by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G Parameshwara held its day-long meeting at a resort close Devanahalli on Thursday. The state election committee decided to rule against age limit restriction and fielding family members in the upcoming Assembly elections.

This implies the “one family, one ticket” strategy, which Parameshwara had freely looked for, won’t make a difference to any likes of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The Chief Minister may contest from the Chamundeshwari constituency and field his son Dr Yathindra from Varuna Constituency. Over twelve leaders are said to campaign for tickets to their children.

It was likewise decided in the meeting not to offer tickets to corrupt candidates. Yet, there was no lucidity on what constituted corruption, who is corrupt and the degree of corruption that is allowable. Further, applicants who lost by an edge of 25,000 votes in the 2013 election will be considered for a ticket just if reviews demonstrate that they can win this time.

Speaking to the reporters Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, who heads the party’s campaign committee, said “Applications for tickets put together by all candidates were talked about. Indeed, even study reports came up for discussion. The list of candidates will be out before this month’s end,”

Each of the 224 Assembly segments has been partitioned into four divisions, with a team for every division. Shivakumar heads Bengaluru, KPCC working President Dinesh Gundu Rao heads Mysuru, Former minister S R Patil heads Belagavi and AICC general secretary B K Hariprasad heads Kalaburgi division.

Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy said “Names of three applicants for each constituency will be made. They will be shortlisted after discussing with the Chief Minister. High summon will take the last call,”
