Cooker explodes; child grievously injured

Puttur: A girl child has been seriously injured after a cooker which was boiling vegetables on the stove exploded suddenly. The incident occurred at Nelyadi in Puttur. The injured child is identified as Ajnya K R (7), daughter of Nelyadi gram panchayat member Chaitra.

The incident

A cooker had been placed on the stove fire to boil vegetables. As the child was turning off the fire knob of the stove, the cooker suddenly exploded. The force of the explosion grievously injured the child.

The injured child was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru. It is being said that the reason for the explosion was the usage of low quality cookers that are sold door to door in rural areas.
