Mangaluru/Honnavar: A team of Corona Warriors travelled across three districts, amid the lockdown to deliver medicines to an ailing three-month-old child in Honnavara here.
The child and his mother, hailing from Kallapu in Mangaluru were stranded at Honnavar after announcement of the lockdown. The medicines needed for the child was not available locally there and his father, Robin D'souza was unable to go the distance owing to the travel restrictions during the lockdown guidelines.
An immensely worried D'souza is said to have placed a call to helpline of "Corona Warriors" led by Information and Public Relations Department Secretary P. Manivannan in Bengaluru and briefed them about his predicament.
Shortly Corona Warriors from Mangaluru arranged a team to collect the medicines to be taken for the child from D'souza and also alerted authorities in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts .
The team was however stopped at Shiroor, the northern border of Udupi district where police posted on check post duty informed them that if they go to Uttara Kannada district, they will not be allowed to return as the area has been flagged as a red zone.
The team after speaking to other volunteers contacted Health department in Honnavara, who informed the police in Shiroor to arrange safe transport of medicine.
The team handed over the medicines to police there and now it has reached to the mother.
