Country is facing Modi’s dictatorial rule: Veerappa Moily

Chikkaballapur: Former Chief Minister and present Lok sabha member Veerappa Moily has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to establish dictatorship in the country.

“After BJP has come to power, statues of many ideologues have been vandalized. Injustice has been done by BJP to the backward classes in the country as the party workers have damaged the statues of Ambedkar, Lenin Mahatma Gandhi and Periyar Ramaswamy,” said Moily, speaking at the district-level executive committee meeting of the the District Congress Committee.

On the Mahadayi river water issue, Moily alleged that Modi had forgotten humanity. “We have requested him to secure Karnataka’s share of water by speaking to the opposition in Goa and the Maharashtra government. But, the prime minister is not keen on resolving this issue. The results of the bypolls in Punjab and two constituencies in Karnataka is evidence enough for the fast vanishing Modi era in the country”, he added.

BJP claims corruption free governance, while at the same time magnificent buildings are being constructed for BJP and RSS since Modi came to power. “Where do you get money from for such buildings? Though Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah have planned to purchase the legislators, it won’t be successful. Modi’s speech delivery at Chikkaballapur in 2014 has failed to make any dent”, he said.

Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly N H Shivashankara Reddy said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while making tall claims of changing the country has failed to fulfill people’s expectations. Middle class people are facing hardship since the introduction of GST, Ban on high-denomination notes and LPG cylinder price rise. He alleged that the prime minister has not yet come up with one scheme that would benefit the people.

He added that Modi’s governance has disappointed people and hence Siddaramiah government which has introduced many pro-people programmes should be brought back to power in the upcoming election.

Moily called upon voters to vote and uproot BJP in India, since Modi has no ‘compassion’ for the people. He asked the party workers to bring Congress back to power in the upcoming elections by efficiently make use of social media.
