COVID-19: Animal welfare board member appeals financial aid for gaushalas

Bengaluru: Vinay L Shetty, a member of the Karnataka Animal Welfare Board in a letter dated April 16 has appealed Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa for further financial outlay for the gaushalas in the State which are reeling under dire financial stress due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

In the letter, Vinay states that the State government presently allocates Rs 17.50 per day for each cow in the gaushalas, additional expenses of the cows are bone out of contributions by the general public which has completely stopped since the lockdown began.

Vinay appeals to the government to increase the allocation to Rs 300 for each cow and Rs 100 for each calf per day to effectively deal with the financial crunch.
