Covid-19 fourth wave: Karnataka to make wearing masks mandatory again

Bengaluru: Karnataka health department on Monday said that the state will make wearing facemasks in public mandatory as a preventive step to control the surge of Covid-19 cases.

A Covid-19 taskforce meeting presided by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was held on Monday.

State Health Minister K Sudhakar said, “A slight increase in Covid cases has been recorded in the neighboring state in the last 8-10 days. The health department has decided to keep an eye on people coming from countries like South Korea, and Thailand.”

“It is very important to follow Covid-19 guidelines as earlier the Covid second wave started slowly and later exploded. Scientists are currently studying the virus variants. Also, Experts have suggested suitable precautionary measures and guidelines would be soon issued for Covid management in the state after the video conference with the prime minister on April 27,” he added.
