COVID-19 lockdown: B'luru cop Hemant Nimbalkar explains how to apply for emergency pass

Bengaluru: Hemant Nimbalkar, IGP, Administration, Bengaluru City Police informed that 200 copies of 'Emergency Passes' will be issued at all police stations by concerned DCPs and inspector in-charge of the police stations will issue these passes on account of medical emergency against the original ID proof Hemant Nimbalkar in a memo informed, "As many requests have been received from the public for passes to facilitate movement through Bangalore City amidst the lockdown for purposes of attending to “medical emergencies' such as pregnancy, childbirth, accident or demise of a family member and as these are exceptional cases, they cannot be dealt with using the online pass system, therefore will require the intervention of local police to assess the genuineness of the request. "Hence, 200 copies of emergency passes will be issued to all law and order police stations by concerned DCPs in the prescribed format bearing a clear serial number from 001 to 200. The Inspector in-charge of the police station is empowered to issue these Emergency Passes on account of medical emergency against the original ID proof. Once the exigency is over and the Pass has been utilized by the applicant, she/he must return the pass to the concerned station. The original ID proof shall remain deposited at Police station till the return of the pass," he added. However, the duration of the pass shall is only 12 hours from the time it is issued. Taking to Twitter Hemant Nimbalkar write, "For Local Medical emergencies; ‘Emergency Pass’ for @BlrCityPolice limits: • Your Police Inspector issues this Pass only for 12 Hrs against depositing any Original ID & Address proof. • Pass to be submitted back to the police station within time to release deposited ID."
