No COVID-19 positive student appeared for PUC exam clarifies Suresh Kumar

Bengaluru: Primary and secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar on June 20 clarified that no COVID-19 positive student had appeared for the PUC English examination on June 18.

The clarification came in the backdrop of reports that a girl student had erased the quarantine mark on her hand and appeared for the examination at Jayanagar’s BES College.

Speaking at a news conference on Saturday evening, the minister said that the girl in question was tested and at 2:54 pm her test reported negative. Hence, those who appeared at the same examination centre with her need not be worried and no student should undergo quarantine.

He also stated that the student’s father is already in quarantine and is undergoing treatment by the Department of Health. The father is not suffering from any special health problems.

The English examination on June 18 was conducted successfully. About six lakh students appeared for the examination in a very healthy and safe environment, he added

Parents and other relatives of any student who is to appear in the SSLC examination, if they have undergone quarantine will be identified by authorities and such students will be exempted from attending the examination. Such students will be allowed to appear for the supplementary examination which will be held in the near future.
