Los Angeles: A female stunt person has died while performing a motorcycle stunt on the set of Ryan Reynolds “Deadpool 2”. Joi “SJ” Harris, who was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Vancouver set of “Deadpool 2”, has been identified as the first African-American female professional road racer, reported CNN.

It was her first film as a stunt performer. “A stunt driver has died on the set of Deadpool during a stunt on a motorcycle. VPD & @WorkSafeBC investigators are at the scene,” Vancover Police tweeted.

Production on the superhero sequel was shut down immediately after the incident and there is no word on when filming will resume.

The incident took place at the 1000 Block of West Waterfront Road, Vancouver BC, near Jack Poole Plaza, according to WorkSafeBC and the Coroners Service.

“We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of ‘Deadpool 2’ this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time,” 20th Century Fox, the studio behind the movie, said in a statement.

Hours after the death, Reynolds posted a statement on social media, saying, “Today, we tragically lost a member of our crew while filming Deadpool. We’re heartbroken, shocked and devastated… but recognise nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment.

“My heart pours out to them — along with each and every person she touched in this world.”
Production on “Deadpool 2” began in late June and the film is scheduled to release in 2018.
