In Delhi, new pyre platforms are being added across to increase the capacity of crematorium sites as people are currently scrambling to make space for Covid-protocol funerals.

In NCR, due to lack of space, some parking lots are used for funerals.

As per reports, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation is planning to create a temporary human pyre platform at a project site meant to be the city’s first dog crematorium.

A corporation official informed, “Temporary pyre platforms will be developed to cater to additional bodies. We are witnessing an increase of over 15-20 percent in cremations daily.”
