He arrived in Mangaluru on Tuesday on a personal visit to Udupi and Shringeri.

Speaking to press reporters here after meeting Padma Vibhshan awardee Dr. B M Hegde at his residence, Dr. Swamy said he does not oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but for the policies adopted by him.

Dr. Swamy further added that he is deeply disappointed with the Modi government’s weak stance against China’s aggressive policies. The government’s efforts to take over ancient temples in Uttarakhand and the destruction of Ramsetu were other issues of disagreement, he said and added that he had publically voiced his opinion through letters.

Despite the Covid pandemic, India has many opportunities for economic growth and development. But, the government is not utilizing them effectively due to policy flaws. They should be corrected. “We are living in a democratic system and not a totalitarian one,” he said.
