DKMU to send 1.20 lakh liters of milk to inundated Kerala

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Milk Union (DKMU) has decided to send 1.20 lakh liters of its long shelf life milk, ‘Trupti’ to flood hit Kerala. The move comes after the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) requested the union to send long shelf life milk to Kerala.

Managing director of DKMU ltd. (KMF), BV Sathyanatayana said that already about 37,000 liters of milk has been dispatched to Kerala till Satuday. Another consignment of 16,000 liters of milk will be sent through Coast Guard in their ship on Sunday.  The union aims to send 1.20 lakh liters of long shelf life milk to Kerala.

700kg of relief material from Mangalureans

The Coast Guard flew two sorties to Calicut and one to Kochi, each with 700kg of relief material from its air enclave at old airport in Bajpe. The relief material donated by the people of Mangaluru included medicines, baby food among other. The Coast Guard will also attempt similar air sorties on Sunday as well.
