The Election Commission’s action came after the office of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer wrote to the EC to remove the tweet posted by Mishra on Thursday, EC officials said.
The Delhi CEO Office has also issued a showcause notice to Mishra, who has been fielded by the BJP from the Model Town constituency, they said.
In the tweet, Mishra, a former minister in the Arvind Kejriwal cabinet, said the February 8 election will be a contest between India and Pakistan in Delhi.

Mangaluru: A team of Mangaluru Police is reportedly preparing to take suspected terrorist Aditya Rao to Chennai for further investigation. Court had on Thursday sent Aditya to 10-day police custody after he was brought to Mangaluru from Bengaluru on Wednesday evening.
According to the reports, Aditya during interrogation has revealed that he used to order chemical and other items used to prepare explosives from Chennai. To carry further investigations a police team will now head to Chennai.
In the wake of the information revealed by Aditya, he is expected to be taken to Chennai within next 10 days before his police custody end.
