Kundapur: A rock edict belonging to the Alupa dynasty of the 7
th-8
th CE era has been found at Hattiyangadi in Kanyana village here.
Lecturer of Sharada College Prof| Purushottam Balyaya, Pradeep Kumar Basrur and retires lecturer Prof|B Bhaskar Shetty located the edict.
It is learnt that the rock edict belongs to a Alupa ruler of the 2
nd century CE. The edict contains the words Pandya Alupendra Pattiyapuri (Hattiyangadi) and Bhattaraka, and the edict has been inscribed on either sides of the stone. The 8
th century CE Belmannu brass edict and Polali Ammonji edict of the Pandya clan status can be observed in it.
