Election dates announced for Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assemblies

New Delhi: The Election Commission has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming legislative assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

During a press conference held on Tuesday afternoon, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar declared the dates for the elections in both states.

Maharashtra:

  • Polling: November 20 (Single Phase)
  • Counting: November 23

The deadline for filing nominations is October 29, and candidates can withdraw their nominations until November 4. The voting will take place on November 20, followed by counting on November 23.

Jharkhand:

  • First Phase Polling: November 13
  • Second Phase Polling: November 20
  • Counting: November 23

Jharkhand will have a two-phase election. The deadline for filing nominations for the first phase is October 24, with the last day for withdrawal on October 30. For the second phase, the deadline for nominations is October 30, and candidates can withdraw until November 1. Voting for the first phase will be on November 13, while the second phase will be on November 20, with counting on November 23.

The tenure of Maharashtra’s 288-member assembly will end on November 26, while Jharkhand’s 81-member assembly completes its term on January 5, 2025.

By-elections in Karnataka:

Karnataka will see by-elections for three constituencies—Shiggaon, Channapatna, and Sandur—on November 13, with results to be declared on November 23.
