Udupi's Gita Mandir - an international center for the study of Bhagavad Gita instituted by the Sri Puthige Matha was inaugurated on December 1, 1993. The then King of Nepal His Excellency Shri Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev and his royal family graced the grand inauguration ceremony of the Gita Mandir.
