Belagavi: Thirteen private transport buses full of passengers, which were on their way to Karnataka from different places in Maharashtra, were made to return from the Kognoli checkpoint between Kolhapur and Belagavi districts because most passengers did not have RT-PCR negative report.

This development came after chief minister Basavaraj Bommai’s order, to make it mandatory for any traveller from Maharashtra to carry a double vaccination certificate as well as RT-PCR negative report, started along the state border on Monday, January 3.

Bommai, during a visit to Belagavi, had asked the officials to increase screening at the check posts and ensure that people entering Karnataka have both the documents to prevent further spread of the Omicron.
