The Coastal Security Police was established to combat terrorism and unlawful activities along the country’s coastline. In Karnataka, the force operates from Karwar to Ullal, with its headquarters in Malpe. The coastline has 150 landing points for boats and features 9 police stations with 600 personnel involved, he said.

The fishermen are cooperating remarkably in sea operations, patrolling, and protection. The Sagar Rakshak Dal, comprising local fishermen, has more than a thousand members and actively supports the police. Last year, the police, along with the fishermen’s help, carried out 13 rescue operations, he added.

He also informed the reporters that a training center for the CSP personnel, and a well-equipped hospital for sea-related accidents are proposed to be set up at a 25-acre land parcel in Kodi Kanyana near Sastan.
