Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Chowta stated that the event, hosted under the honorary leadership of MRG Group Chairman Prakash Shetty, has been a tradition for the past seven years.
The Kambala will be inaugurated by M. Venkatesh, a retired managing director of MRPL and father of martyred soldier Captain M.V. Pranjal.

Captain Chowta emphasized the need to promote cruise tourism in Dakshina Kannada and mentioned plans to include Kambala under the Swadesh Darshan scheme to attract foreign tourists.
Competitions for All
Committee Vice President Eshwar Prasad Shetty highlighted the various competitions, including a Color Koota Drawing Competition. Children under 10 can participate in the “Rangada Elya” category, while those aged 10-15 can compete in the “Rangada Malla” category. There are no age restrictions for the Rang Koota category. Photography and reels competitions will also be held.
The Kambala Committee’s General Secretary Sujith Pratap, Vice President Nandan Mallya, and key members Ashok Krishnapura, Eshwar Prasad Shetty, Vasant Poojary, Prakash Poojary Garodi, Kiran Kumar Kodikal, and Sakshat Shetty were present at the press conference.
Kambala Finals on December 29
The two-day Kambala event will culminate with the finals on the morning of December 29, a much-anticipated segment that adds excitement to the results. Winners in the “Kane Halage” category will receive 2 pavan for first place and 1 pavan for second. Prizes for other categories such as Hagga and Negilu include 2 pavan and 1 pavan for first and second places, respectively. Winners in junior categories will receive 1 pavan and half a pavan as prizes.
