The award, sponsored by Prabhavati and Udupi Vishwanath Shenoy, honours excellence in Tulu and Kannada theatre and cinema. It was announced during a press meet by award committee convener Maravanthe Nagraj Hebbar and Samskruti Vishwa Prathisthana founder Vishwanath Shenoy.
The award includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a citation, and a plaque.
Vice-president Sandhya Shenoy, Vishweshwar Adiga, and Raviraj S.P. were also present during the announcement.
