ANF combing operation: Cop dies accidently

Mangaluru: An Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) personnel died after suffering a severe cardiac arrest when he was taking part in the combing operation in reserve forests of Sullia taluk on Saturday. The admitted personnel has been identified as Rangaswamy (48) belonging to the first battalion of ANF.

Ravikanthegowda, superintendent of police, DK. Saud that three battalions began combing in and around Sullia forest after three arm-wielding Naxals, including two women, were allegedly seen in residential areas on Thursday.

While the operation was on around 30km inside the forest, Rangaswamy from the first battalion suffered a severe cardiac arrest. Arrangements were immediately made and he was shifted to the hospital, but to no avail. 

Rangaswami survived by his wife and daughter

Rangaswamy joined Karnataka State Reserve Police force in 1997 and gave service as the head constable. He is survived by his wife Bharati and daughter Kusuma.

Sources informed that Rangaswamy was a resident of Ganesh Colony in new town Bhadravati and was part of the ANF.  Son of Ayyakkanna and Laxmamma couple, he was born in 1971 and joined the service on March 15th 1997.
