Another fire accident destroys acres of forest in Kappathagudda of Gadad

Gadag: Yet another forest fire accident in Karnataka state, acres of forest area at Kappathagudda in Gadag district of the state has been burnt on Friday night as a result of suspected short circuit from high tension lines passed through the forest area. The fire fighters are still working hard to stop the spread of fire to other parts of the forest area.

Thousands of valuable trees, herbs, plants and others have been destroyed in the fire. The locals alleged that miscreants might have set fire to the forest. Also, the people expressed their anger over forest officials who reached laggardly by two to three hours to the accident spot after getting information on the fire accident from the locals. 

Kappathagudda is in news stream for the last two months as people started protests against the state government’s move to cut down forest for mining as the area contains rich minerals.
