Another theft by ‘Chaddi Gang’ in Mangaluru?

Mangaluru: A theft occurred in a house in Kotekani under the Urwa Police Station limits on Monday night.

It is gathered that the gang of four thieves gained entry into the house in Kotekani by cutting the window grills at around 1 AM.

The gang assaulted the elderly couple and forced them to hand over the keys. The husband, identified as Victor Mendonca was hit with iron rods, and sustained injuries to his legs.

The gang took the car keys, stole jewelry and mobile phones, and drove away with the car. The car was abandoned near Hejamady.

Last Saturday, a theft occurred near Kodikal in the city. The police had suspected that the Chaddi Gang was behind that crime. It is suspected that the theft in Kotekani is the work of the same gang.

Investigation ongoing

Meanwhile, police intensified the police operation to track down the “Chaddi Gang” suspects that targetted the residence in Kodikal, early Saturday morning.

Based on CCTV footage, the dress worn by the gang seen stealing in Kodikal resembles that of the “Chaddi Gang.” It is suspected that the same group may have carried out other thefts. The investigation is continuing based on the CCTV footage and other information.

The police have urged the public to report any thefts, attempted thefts, or suspicious activities to their nearest police stations.

Continuous Rain: A Boon for Thieves

The coastal region has been experiencing continuous rain for several days, which has become a boon for thieves. Such weather conditions typically result in very low night-time public movement, allowing thieves to operate without fear. The public has urged the police to increase vigilance and strengthen beat patrols.
