B Manjamma Jogathi appointed Karnataka Janapada Academy chief

Bengaluru: The state governmnet on Tuesday, October 15 appointed a transgender and a former Devadasi B Manjamma Jogathi as the chairperson of Karnataka Janapada Academy.

Karnataka Rajyotsava awardee B Manjamma Jogathi is known for her dance troupe ‘Jogappa Tanda’ which is well-known artiste across the state.

The other appointments are: Ajarkala Girish Bhat (Kuvempu Bhaasha Pradhikara), M N Nandeesh Hanje (Kannada Pustaka Pradhikara), B V Vasanth Kumar (Kannada Sahitya Academy), Bheemasena (Karnataka Nataka Academy), Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma (Karnataka Sangeetha-Nritya Academy), Veeranna Arkasali (Karnataka Shilpakala Academy), D Mahendra (Karnataka Lalithakala Academy), Prof M A Hegde (Karnataka Yakshagana Academy), T S Nagabharana (Kannada Development Authority), Dayananda Kathalasara (Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy), Parvathi Appaiah (Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy), Jagadeesh Pai (Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy), Rahim Uchchila (Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy) and Lakshminarayana Kajegadde (Karnataka Arebhashe Sahitya Academy).
