Bajaj Auto is all set to launch a new 125cc motorcycle under its most popular Pulsar brand in India. Though there were some rumours that the upcoming bike will be the Pulsar NS125, it has been now confirmed that it is likely to be a new Pulsar 125 model and not the NS125. The launch is expected to happen around the festive season of this year.

The upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 125 will replace the recently discontinued Pulsar 135LS and hence will become the entry-level model in the Bajaj Pulsar series. The new 125cc bike looks more or less identical to the Bajaj Pulsar 135LS as it shares its design and styling cues with the same. The difference in features includes new graphics on the fuel tank, upswept exhaust with a matte black finish, new split seats and a pair of split grab rails. It also gets a new headlight cowl boasting a halogen headlamp with DRL. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front while the rear suspension is expected to be a monoshock.

Mechanically, the new Pulsar 125 is expected to be powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine developing 11.8bhp power at 8,500rpm and 11Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. It gets mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is expected to be a BS6-compliant fuel-injected unit to meet the upcoming safety emission norms. The bike will come equipped with a 240mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear with CBS (Combined Braking System) as standard.

At an anticipated price range of Rs.60,000 to 65,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new Bajaj Pulsar 125 will take on the likes of the Honda CB Shine SP and Hero Glamour.
