Bantwal: Harassed by son, daughter-in-law, elderly woman rescued by senior citizen committee

A 70-year-old woman, who was harassed by her son and daughter-in-law was rescued by the senior citizens’ committee in Bantwal.

The elderly woman identified as Girija (70), wife of late Longappa Poojary was living with her son Hariram and daughter-in-law Pooja.

It is said that Girija was bedridden and was undergoing treatment after she slipped and fell in January 2020.

Her son and daughter-in-law had made her sleep in a bathroom and gave her food only once a day.

On July 6, the senior citizens’ committee rescued the elderly woman and took her to Wenlock Hospital.

A complaint has been filed and further investigations are underway.
