Bantwal: Man arrested for derogatory, communal social media post

Bantwal: A man was arrested in Bantwal for allegedly posting derogatory content on Facebook that potentially incited communal tension and went viral on social media.

The accused, identified as Jaya Poojary, a resident of Navagram Site in Arala village, was taken into custody by the police.

According to the police, the accused had posted content on his Facebook account that was derogatory towards women and inflammatory, intending to provoke communal discord.

The post, which went viral on social media, prompted the Bantwal Rural Police to register a suo motu case against him.

Jaya Poojary was arrested and presented before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
