The victim, Pavitra, wife of Rohit, a resident of Barimaru village, Kadekana was alone at home when the incident took place.

Rohit was away at work and the couple’s children had gone to attend the Jamboree program being held at Moodabidri.

As per the complaint lodged with Bantwal police, Pavitra was taking a bath when she heard a loud noise at the front door followed by the sound of a stone hurled at the glass window. When she came out to investigate the noise she did not notice anyone. However, when she went to close the bathroom door, two men wearing masks assaulted her and tied her to a pole in their house compound using nylon ropes.

The duo then pocketed the chain the Pavitra was wearing, barged into the house and stole Rs 4,000 cash found lying on the table, ransacked the cupboard, and fled with valuables, including a sack of betel nuts kept in the courtyard.
