Bantwal Police crack home robbery case, Arrest seven suspects

Bantwal: Police cracked a house robbery case and arrested seven members of a gang.

The incident occurred on January 11, when a group barged into the residence of Merita Cynthia Pinto at Menadu and looted gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 3.15 lakh.

According to police, the accused in the crime have been identified as Ganesh Naik (26), Dinesh Naik (22), Sagar Shetty (21), Rakesh L Pinto (29), Praveen (36), and Sudhir (29). They have been booked under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023.

Dakshina Kannada police had formed three special investigation teams.

Their persistent efforts paid off as they successfully cracked the case, leading to the arrest of the suspects. The police not only recovered the stolen gold jewelry worth Rs. 3,15,000 but also seized an Innova car valued at Rs. 8 lakhs and a car worth Rs. 2 lakh used in the robbery.

Further investigations revealed that Muhammad Haneef (49) from Ira village, Bantwal taluk, presently residing at Gowri Canal, Chikkamagaluru district, had received the stolen jewellery.

Police said that among the accused, Ganesh Naik was involved in a major theft in Mangaluru city in 2023.
