Belagavi: MLA Laxman Savadi affirms loyalty to Congress

Belagavi: MLA Laxman Savadi refuted the ongoing speculations surrounding his potential shift to the BJP and said that there is no question of him leaving the Congress.

In a press interaction held in Athani, MLA Lakshmana Savadi stated, “BJP leaders now have a need and an imperative. So they are trying to get us to come back to the party.” However, he firmly clarified, “But there is no question of me leaving the Congress.”

Despite admitting to communication with several BJP leaders and acquaintances, he asserted that the decision ultimately rests with him. “Many BJP leaders are in touch with my followers. They are pressuring me to join the party. But ultimately I am the one who makes the decision. I cannot say everything openly now,” he said.

Savadi attributed the BJP’s interest to their belief that he played a role in assisting the Congress in certain constituencies during the last state assembly elections. “BJP is convinced that I have helped Congress in some constituencies in the last assembly elections. That is why party leaders are contacting me. But I will not leave Congress,” Savadi affirmed unequivocally.
