Belthangady: KSRTC bus mows down bike; Riders killed

Belthangady: In a horrific accident, a KSRTC bus smashed into a motorbike killing the two riders on March 18.

The accident occurred at a sharp turn near Gundada Basti in Gardadi village at around 4.15 pm on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Hammabba Siraj (30) and Qutbuddin Sadiq (33), both sons of late Marhoom Abdul Razzak if Hirebabdadi in Uppinangady.

The accident took place when the brothers were returning from Venur Angarakaria. Their brother-in-law recently passed away and they had visited their sister who lived in Venur. As the bike reached the turn a KSRTC bus moving from Guruvayanakere towards Venur hit the bike head-on.

The dup were trapped beneath the bus which dragged them along till it stopped after crossing the right-side edge of the road. Due to the serious injuries sustained, one of them was killed on the spot, while the other was declared brought dead at a hospital.

Both Sadiq and Siraj were employed abroad and had returned home about 5 months back. They are survived by their mother, 6 sisters, and 8 brothers.

A case has been registered at the Belthangady Police station against the driver of the bus Vishwanath (53) in this regard.
