Belthangady: Labourer found dead at plantation; murder suspected

Belthangady: A labourer was found dead under suspicious circumstances at an areca nut plantation in Shibaje village on December 18. The death is claimed to be a murder.

The deceased has been identified as Sridhar (30) a local who was a labourer at the plantation owned by A C Kurien.

Four persons identified as Thimmappa Pujari, Lakshmana Pujari, K. K. Ananda Gowda, and Mahesh Pujari are accused to have killed the victim.

According to the complaint filed at the Dharmasthala Police station, on December 17, the accused ganged up and beat Sridhar at the plantation. The accused fled from the spot when plantation supervisor Harish Mugera on hearing Sridhar’s screams.

Sridhar was told to rest at the farmhouse after getting his injuries treated.

However, on December 18, Sridhar was missing from the room. He was later found dead a little distance away from the room.

The complaint said that the accused cut the wire fence installed in the garden and used it to kill Sridhar.

Further investigations are underway.
