Belthangady: Two dead eagles at Kalmanje, officers visit the place

Belthangady:  Amid bird flu scare in the district, two dead eagles have been found in Kalmanje village in Belthangady taluk on Friday, January 8. The health department officials visited the place to inspect it.

Gopal Madivala and Shekhar Madiwala, residents of Nidigal Majalu in Kalmanje found the decaying bodies of eagles in their field.

The eagles were discovered in complete decomposed manner, suggesting that they have been dead three days ago. The officials who visited said that the bodies were impossible to be examined. The reason of death is yet to be ascertained.

As eagles lay eggs on coconut trees, around 25 households have been warned.

Health Department officials have informed that they shall conduct surveys to determine if fever is prevalent in the households.

Taluk Health Officer Dr. Kalamadhu, Veterinary surgeon Dr. Yatish, PDO of Kalmanje Gram Panchayat Imtiaz, Girish and Somnath from Forest Department, Forest protector Rajesh and a ASHA worker visited the place.
