Hubli: Allegations have surfaced that a benami property deal gone sour led to the murder of famous vastu expert Chandrashekhar Guruji.

Apparently, Guruji had stalled the sale of a 5.11-acre land by one of the murder accused. The Benami property was purchased by the astrologer in the name of a CG group employee.

According to rumour mills, a politician had shown interest to buy the property and had paid Rs 50 lakh as an advance to the employee. Mahantesh, one of the accused in the killing, had been the middleman and had received Rs 20 lakhs as fees. The remaining amount was said to be paid once the deal was completed.

Guruji came to know of the deal and intervened before it could proceed further. After which, the politician is said to have asked to return the advance paid.

It is said that Mahantesh had spent most of the money received and was furious that the deal had failed. It is also alleged that Mahantesh nursed a grudge for the non-payment of commission for earlier Benami property deals by Guruji.

It is alleged that in his frustration at losing business, Mahantesh effected the gruesome murder.

Meanwhile, police will produce the accused — Mahantesh and Manjunath — before the court on July 12 seeking permission to hand them over to judicial custody.
