The incident occurred when Gagan, the driver from the Yelahanka Depot, and conductor Shivakumar were operating the Yelahanka to Shivajinagar route.

According to police, two individuals riding a bike blocked the bus’s path and began driving erratically. When Gagan honked and continued driving, the bikers followed the bus and intercepted it near the Canara Bank bus stop.

Once the driver opened the door, the miscreants barged in and started verbally abusing and punching him. When Shivakumar intervened to assist Gagan, the attackers dragged him out of the bus, punched him repeatedly in the face, neck, and torso, and even yanked his uniform, beating him publicly until he fell to the ground.

The entire incident was recorded on the bus’s CCTV camera.

Gagan filed a complaint with the DJ Halli Police Station. Shivakumar, who sustained injuries, was hospitalized for treatment.

Police suspect the assailants were under the influence of drugs.  CCTV footage from the bus and nearby areas is being reviewed to identify the attackers. An investigation is underway.
