Chetan(30) of DOddaballapura and Harsha (29) of Yelahanka, both executives of Airtel were arrested and 6 fake SIM cards were confiscated from them, police said.

The racket came to light during the interrogation of an accused, named Rajeshwar who had been arrested on January 28 in a case of cheating engineering course aspirants. He blurted out that he had procured the fake SIM cards from the duo after paying a hefty amount. Armed with this information, police arrested the duo, sources said.

The duo filled more forms than necessary when any customer approached them for getting a sim card. Armed with the id cards and signatures of the gullible customers, the duo then issued additional SIM cards. These cards were sold to fraudsters who wished to remain untraceable. They issued about 5 to 6 connections in the name of a single genuine customer and later sold the excess for up to Rs 3000 to Rs 5000, police added.
