Bengaluru: Worker injured in Hosaguddadahalli fire accident dies

Bengaluru: A worker who was seriously injured in the fire at a chemical warehouse in Hosaguddadahalli has died on Saturday, November 14.

The deceased worker has been identified as Bijay Singh (30).

Three workers, including Bijay Singh, were unloading chemical barrels from a truck in the warehouse premises at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 10.

One of the workers, Bijukumar, accidentally created a static charge while transferring the chemicals from one barrel to another using a pipe. The charge sparked a fire which within a few minutes spread to the entire warehouse.

The fire caused the barrels in the warehouse to explode and fly almost 30 feet up into the air.

Along with the warehouse, two adjacent buildings, vehicles parked on the road nearby and streetlights were all completely destroyed by the fire.

Bijay Singh was seriously injured in the accident and was rushed to the Victoria Hospital. However, police said that he died early on Saturday morning failing to effectively respond to the treatment.

Warehouse owner Sajjanrao, his wife Kamla Sajjanrao and their son Anil Kumar have been arrested in connection with the accident.
