Bike-lorry accident at Kota kills bridegroom

• Relative dies of shock after getting news of the accident

Kundapur: In a gruesome incident a bridegroom, who was riding a bike from Thekkatte to Saligrama temple, came under the wheels of a lorry near Kota Bellada Ganapathi temple and died on the spot on Saturday Dec 22^nd. The deceased youth is identified as Varun (33), son of K G Raju, originally from Petemane in Koteshwara and presently residing at Thekkatte.

Varun was heading towards the temple and as he was attempting to overtake the road roller ahead of him, the road roller touched the bike. Thus, Varun lost control of his bike and was thrown to the road when a huge 12-wheel lorry approaching from the opposite side ran over him, killing him instantly. Varun leaves behind his father, mother and a sister.

Supposed to get married within a week

It is said that Varun’s wedding was scheduled to take place at Saligrama Kalyana Mantapa with a girl from Kalavara on December 30 and that he was preparing for the marriage.

He was employed abroad and had planned to arrive in India on December 26. However, his leave was approved early; he arrived to prepare for the marriage a few days before schedule. He had borrowed the bike from his friend for the marriage arrangements.

Relative dies after getting news of the accident

Varun’s relative identified as Girija (68) a resident of Koteshwara Doddoni is said to have died due to heart attack after she heard the shocking news of Varun’s untimely and sudden tragic demise. It is said that deceased Girija, Varun, his father and mother were staying in Dandeli together in the past.
