Belagavi: Amid complaints regarding the poor management at Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS),the Medical Education Department approved the leave application by BIMS Director Vinay Dastikopp. Head of the Department of Anatomy Umesh Kulkarni will be in charge.

Recently, Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi visited the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences and said that the hospital was worse than a cow shed. He also accused doctors and staff of negligence.
The State government has also changed deputation of Sanjiv Katte, who was in charge of disposal of bodies. A matron and six nurses have also been transferred by the government.
