BJP MP Pratap Simha accused of misusing postal service to distribute publicity material

Mysuru: BJP MP Pratap Simha, representing the Mysuru-Kodagu constituency, has kicked up a row for alleged violation of the model code of conduct.

The BJP leader has been accused of misusing the services of Department of Posts, after the announcement of elections, for distribution of booklets that highlight his achievements during the last five years. 

Congress leader and Karnataka State Backward Classes Federation president K S Shivaramu lodged a complaint in this connection with Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru and District Election Officer Abhiram G. Sankar.

Speaking to media persons here Shivaramu alleged that though the model code of conduct came into force from March 10, Simha misused the postal services to distribute 50,000 pamphlets to houses in the jurisdiction of 22 post offices in Mysuru. He also accused the Senior Superintendent of Posts of  issuing a circular to the post offices asking the delivery staff to distribute booklets to every house coming under respective jurisdiction

He urged Election commission to take action against Simha and also demanded suspension of the Post Superintendent.
