Amid the PSI recruitment scam in the state, a constable attached to Bengaluru’s Viveknagar police station has been suspended for allegedly wearing a sub-inspector’s uniform without getting any official appointment order.

The constable, Basanagouda Karegoudra had cleared the police sub-inspector recruitment exam by securing 27th rank. Following this, he wore the sub-inspector’s uniform on nearly three occasions, including while going to his village. Photos of him wearing the PSI uniform and delivering speeches went viral.

A DHNS report quoting police sources mentioned that villagers put up banners congratulating Basanagouda. It’s illegal to wear a sub-inspector’s uniform before getting the official appointment order, they added.

When the matter came to the knowledge of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) M N Anucheth he ordered a preliminary inquiry and gave the constable’s suspension order.
