The gang would arrive at the showrooms in cars and act like customers. They would ask the staff to show them expensive sarees for upcoming wedding function. The gang would then select two or three sarees and leave the shop after buying them. They would sell the stolen sarees for a lesser price in Andhra Pradesh and used to share the sale proceeds among themselves.

Their theft came to light after a shop owner noticed the CCTV footage of his showroom and lodged a police complaint.
