B'luru: Transgender snatches chain in guise of hugging strangers

Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a transgender person allegedly stole a gold chain from a man who was waiting for a cab on the pretext of hugging him on MG Road here.

The victim, a 34-year-old man from Chennai in Tamil Nadu, registered a complaint at Cubbon Park Police station in this regard.

The man, working in marketing, had come to Bengaluru on January 8. The complaint said that at around 3 a.m. when he was waiting for a cab with a friend on the road. A transgender person who arrived at the spot allegedly tried to misbehave with the complainant. When the complainant refused to entertain such behaviour, the unidentified person forcefully hugged him three to four times and went away.

The complainant said he realized that the gold chain weighing around 32 grams that he was wearing at the time was missing after the incident. The chain is estimated to be worth Rs 1.64 lakhs. The transgender person was nowhere to be seen.

A case in this regard has been registered at the Cubbon Park police station. Police said they are searching for the culprit.
