In reality this was a mock operation jointly conducted by Mangaluru police, coast guard, Indian navy and other stake holders. But the people in the mall were terrified.

The ‘Sea Vigil’ mock operation in Karavali was conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday at the City Centre Mall, fisheries port and to a distance of 4 nautical miles by the coastal security police and near the administration office of NMPT by the Panambur police.  This mock operation presented the measures that will be taken by the police when a mock red-force team arrives via the sea and places explosives at public places with a higher presence of people.

Barricades will be placed at strategic locations in the city and police will maintain a vigil along with inspection of vehicles. The ‘Sea Vigil’ operation will be conducted till 23rd night and will include all the security departments. The aim is to spread awareness regarding the security of the public. The people do not need to feel any fear in connection to this, said Superintendent of the Coastal Security Police.
