Breakwater stones become the foundation stone for resorts in the district in-charge’s constituency

Ullal: In the recent years, sea erosion during monsoon season has become a regular phenomenon. In that too, Ullal, Someshwar and Uchhila face a much higher rate of sea erosion in Dakshina Kannada district.

Every year, several families are snared by the sea erosion and many families face the burnt. In order to provide permanent solution to the problem, work has commenced on creating a breakwater along the coast from Ullal to Talapady. But, only in Uchilla, instead of creating the breakwater, the stones have been brought for the compound wall of the entire area of resort thereby doing an appreciable job.

Only with the complete involvement of the representatives of the people and officials is it possible to achieve a generous act as this, allege the localities.

During the monsoon, there is much sea erosion suffered at the coasts of Someshwara, Uchhila and Talapady and this is the very reason permission is not given to build houses and buildings along Karavali’s coast.

Besides, previously when Ponnuraj was the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, without bowing to anyone’s pressure, he had taken action against illegal resorts constructed in these areas and had them removed.

But now, once again there is a surge of guest houses along the coast of Uchhila and also increasing without a limit.
